In his media day press conference yesterday, Sean Miller was asked about the eligibility of Zach Peters, a 6’10 sophomore transfer from Kansas.
“I think the NCAA has given us four or five deadlines,” Miller responded in a sarcastic tone.. “They’re 0-5. When they give us the 6th deadline, I think they’ll miss that one too.”
Perhaps Miller’s presser was being aired at the NCAA offices, perhaps not, but either way, Peters has at last been ruled eligible to compete in the upcoming season.
“Today’s news from the NCAA is very exciting for Zach and his family, as well as our basketball program,” Miller told the University of Arizona athletic site.
Peters, who has battled concussions in the past, is already participating with the and will soon return to full competition and contact.
The forward will provide Arizona with immediate depth up front and is a strong shooter from the perimeter. His presence will help fill the gap left by Grant Jerrett.
While the biggest priority for Peters right now is ensuring he can remain healthy, his impact to the team could be invaluable this season.
