College basketball fans rejoiced as the annual NCAA Tournament bracket was announced earlier today. Arizona fans had to wait until the last region was announced, but the Wildcats were awarded a 6 seed in the West and will play the Belmont Bruins.
Located in Nashville, Tennessee, Belmont is 1400 miles away from Salt Lake City, Utah, which will also play host to Arizona, New Mexico, Harvard, Gonzaga, Pittsburgh, and Wichita St. Gonzaga received the region’s number 1 seed.
Four other Pac-12 teams made it in the field, 6 seed UCLA, 10 seed Colorado, 12 seed Oregon, and 12 seed Cal. One of the selection committee members explained after the selection show that both Oregon and Cal were originally placed on the 11 seed lines, but had to move down a slot for mechanical reasons.
Arizona will face Belmont on Thursday, with the tipoff time to be announced.”
