24 of the best high school basketball players took the court in Brooklyn for the annual Under Armour Elite 24. Arizona recruiting targets 2016 Josh Jackson, 2017 Trevon Duval and 2017 Billy Preston were among the players in attendance.
What stands out about Jackson and Preston is their size. Jackson has great height for a wing and could certainly play some power forward in a small lineup. However, he is still quite thin and it was evident that his skill set is that of a slasher. He finished everything going to the hoop with a dunk, showcasing his top tier athleticism.
Preston is quite the specimen from a physical standpoint as well. He flashed obvious potential while also exhibiting that decision making needs improvement.
Other players of note include DeAndre Ayton who certainly looks the part of an NBA center and Bam Adebayo who threw down some dunks that drew big reactions from the crowd. Finally Michael Porter looks to have a great combination of skill and length and should be lethal once he gains some weight.
Josh Jackson, Frank Jackson, Billy Preston and Bam Adebayo shared MVP honors. Rawle Altkins was a home crowd favorite going head to head with Jackson early. Jackson had a few blocks with questionable foul calls and showed his athleticism by recovering to challenge shots after being beat.
Having been reported that an Arizona offer expanded his list to 11 from 10, Rawle Altkins was not focused on schools at this time but did mention he would like to visit Arizona.
