PGU caught up with 2017 Trevon Duval at the Under Armour Holiday Classic in San Diego. A five star recruit, Duval is one of the most exciting point guards in the nation, and is at the top of the rankings for his position.
Originally from Delaware, Duval recently transferred to play for Advanced Prep Institute in Dallas, formerly known as Prime Prep. It is at API where Duval partnered with another top Arizona recruit, Billy Preston. The offers continue to pour in for Duval, and many are from top flight programs like Arizona, Kansas, UCONN, Louisville, Maryland, Syracuse, and many more.
Duval is arguably the top ball handler of any high school point guard in the nation. Listed at 6’2, he is explosive to the rim and is a great finisher for his size.
“I can create for my teammates and get everyone involved,” said Duval. Many compare his game to Kyrie Irving and Derrick Rose, due to his ball handling ability and extreme explosiveness.
Arizona assistant coach Book Richardson has been instrumental in the recruiting process of Duval.
“Arizona is a high level program, every year and they send a lot of players to the league,” said Duval.
Duval plays above the rim, can dunk over big men in the half court, and can create his own shot with ease.
“Coach Miller gives his guards a lot of freedom, I fit into Arizona’s fast up and down style of play,” he told PGU.
