Aaron Gordon’s visit to Arizona was a huge success and sources have told us they believe Arizona can land Gordon. Gordon and his family met with Sean Miller and they discussed winning a national championship and the role Gordon would play. Arizona can offer Gordon 25-30 minutes a game (even if everyone stays), with much of that time at the 3. Gordon would split time with Rondae Jefferson at the 3 and then likely get his additional minutes at the 4.
Further, no one knows what the Arizona roster will look like after the season and players could leave for a variety of reasons.
As for Washington, they have a great relationship but players as good as Gordon don’t usually go to Udub.
As of now, Gordon is scheduled to visit Kentucky on November 10th for his fifth and final official visit.
Aaron Gordon doesn’t think anyone in the class of 2013 is more talented than him. He would have a chance to prove that at Arizona. So I don’t see Gordon choosing to play with the players at UK that everyone ranks ahead of him. He could come to Arizona and represent the west coast and beat UK for the title. Then Dave Telep won’t be calling him Andrew Gordon on national television. And he can’t win like that at Washington.
Justise Winslow and Stanley Johnson love Arizona and the coaching staff is hoping to land both of them. Both players got along really well on their visit. It’s hard not see at least one of these two becoming Wildcats. You really can’t go wrong with either of them so why not try and get both.
Parker Jackson-Cartwright visited Arizona for the second time and the coaching staff would love for him to pull the trigger and commit. UCLA is a definite factor, but we believe Arizona is in great position. But it looks like he will make a decision in the spring at the earliest, so there is a long way to go in this recruitment.
Isaiah Briscoe and Arizona are a match made in heaven. Sean Miller loves tough guards and they don’t get tougher than Briscoe. He can play the point or off the ball with ease and had a great meeting with Sean Miller after the game.
Book Richardson has known Briscoe since he was a kid when Richardson worked for the New York Gauchos. Recruiting is all about relationships and that’s what Arizona has here.
The plan is for Sean Miller to have that same type of relationship with Briscoe. And if that happens it can only mean good things for Arizona.
Arizona made a point to only bring recruits to the Red/Blue game that absolutely love Arizona. That’s the atmosphere they wanted and it worked.
Be patient because the 2012 Red/Blue game will pay big dividends for Arizona. It’s only a matter of time. Everyone besides Gordon who visited was an underclassman and it’s not often that they commit early.
NBA scouts loved Grant Jerrett. Many of them said he was the best player on the floor at the Red/Blue game.
