Findlay Prep Wins Big in Opener

Nick Johnson leads all scorers with 25 on 9 of 12 shooting.

Findlay opened the 2010-11 season with a 110-74 victory over Impact Academy in front of a standing room only crowd at Henderson International. The preseason #1 ranked Pilots had 5 players in double figures and 3 with double figure rebounds. Nick Johnson led the scoring with 25 points on 9 of 12 shooting including 3 of 4 from 3. Johnson added 12 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals. Unsigned senior Amir Garrett scored 20 on 8 of 16 from the floor with 11 rebounds. Myck Kabongo scored 12 with 12 assists. Junior Winston Shepard scored 18 on 8 of 14 with a team high 15 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists. Sophomore Nigel Williams-Goss scored 18 including 14 in the first half on 9 of 13 from the field to go with 3 assists. Junior big man Landen Lucas scored 8 and had 2 blocks. Unsigned senior point guard Kevin Kaspar had 6 points on 3 of 5 from the field. Junior guard Nazareth Long added 3.

Findlay has 2 unsigned seniors; 6’6 Guard Amir Garrett and 6′ Point Guard Kevin Kaspar. The Findlay roster is seniors Myck Kabongo, Nick Johnson, Amir Garrett & Kevin Kaspar. The underclassmen include juniors Winston Shepard, Nazareth Long, Anthony Bennett, and Landen Lucas and sophomores Nigel Williams-Goss and Benas Griciunas

At home the Pilots have scored over 100 points in 8 of their last 10 games. Last season Findlay averaged 115.3 at home and allowed 76.5 in 9 games at home. Wednesday’s win puts the record to 35-0 all-time at home under Coach Peck.

*Every graduate of the Findlay program of the Henderson International School has been an NCAA division 1 qualifier

*Findlay has now had 3 McDonald’s All-Americans, 3 Jordan Brand All-Americans, & 4 Parade All-Americans

*The Pilots have had 25 international players in 5 seasons including players from 17 different countries

*23 Findlay players from the first 4 seasons are either currently playing college or pro basketball

*Under Coach Peck, Findlay is 98-3 (35-0 home and 63-3 away)
