Damon Stoudamire Hired as Assistant Coach

May 1st, 2013 News No Comments

Arizona filled the vacancy left by James Whitford by bringing in former Wildcat star, Damon Stoudamire, as assistant coach.

Stoudamire was most recently coaching at Memphis, where he was since May 2011. Stoudamire worked with former Wildcat Josh Pastner at Memphis before relocating to Arizona.

Stoudamire was the 7th overall pick by the Toronto Raptors in the 1995 NBA Draft and won the 1995–96 NBA Rookie of the Year Award after a stellar college career at Arizona.

The addition of Stoudamire to the staff gives Arizona a leader with real NBA ties as both an athlete and a coach. Furthermore, Stoudamire bolsters the Wildcats’ reputation as “A Player’s Program.”
