PGU Breaking News - Gronkowski out for season
PGU Exclusive PGU sources have learned and are reporting that Rob Gronkowski is out for the season and will have back surgery next week. The loss is huge for the Cats as Gronkowski is considered the best player and NFL prospect on the team. Last season, Gronkowski was all Pac-10 and caught 47 passes for 672 yards and 10 touchdowns.[coverattach=1] Earlier this week after Mondays practice it seemed very likely UA tight end Rob Gronkowski would play versus Iowa. However, Coach Mike Stoops said after Wednesday that the star tight end would not play this week at Iowa. The lower back strain that has caused him to miss the first two games is still plaguing him. Coach Stoops would not elaborate any more on the injury. Gronkowski, a 6-foot-5, 265-pound junior, saw limited time at practice Monday and Tuesday. Today, he didn't dress for practice and worked with the Arizona medical staff. Gronkowski will not make the trip to Iowa with the team. Expect an official announcement in the next few days. Damn that sucks - for Gronk, for Stoops and the team and for us, the fans. I, however, will not lose faith in the ability of this team to still do well over the course of the season, and I wish Gronk a speedy recovery

Well crap. Looks like next season will be the season we really break out. With an experienced starting QB, Gronk, Grigsby, Antolin, Dean, Baxter, and more experienced WRs our offense should be off the chain. Defense we'll have to replace some people, but we got the talent. Let's just hope for a bowl this season.

I had a bad feeling about this, damn! I wish Rob luck in his recovery and hope to see him exploiting defenses for us next year!

Thats too bad. It really sucks for us, but Im also very worried about Gronk long-term. Hes potentially the best player weve ever had (even moreso if you look at just Offensive players) and the last thing we want to see is him have his career cut short because of injury. I want to see him have a long and prosperous NFL career after hes done here.

Don't give up on the Cats. Only asu fans front run, bandwagon and quit on their team. Gronk will redshirt and recover, and the Cats will win for him starting against Iowa. Watch Grigsby, Antolin and Nwoko run on Iowa.

No one is giving up on the team at all, but losing Gronk is without a doubt a huge loss for us. Luckily our back up TE's have been playing well this season.
Always hard keeping big huge guys like this completely healthy, especially with some of the shots he takes. Hope you have a speedy recovery Gronk, and we'll see ya next season. |

That really sucks! Get 'em well and hope he comes back next year. I can't imagine him going to the NFL after this year now.

Wow, can't believe the two best Tight Ends in the country are both out for the year (Jermaine Gresham of Oklahoma being the other). Hopefully by next year we will be fully healthy and we will be thankful he's still here for his Senior Year.
