During the first two weeks of the July recruiting period, Sean Miller and the Arizona staff went out of their way to show all the attention they could to 2015 shooting guard Allonzo Trier.

Trier plays in the Nike EYBL and is the league’s all time leading scorer with over 1100 points in 4 seasons. He averaged 29.4 ppg this season and scored 42 points in his final EYBL game over the weekend.

Trier will attend Findlay Prep in the fall and could become one of the many U of A players that have attended the school.

Joe Pasternack is the lead recruiter and has been relentless in his pursuit of Trier. Arizona will likely secure an official visit from Trier and has to be considered one of the leaders. The Arizona staff has been everywhere Trier has in July, and think Trier is the perfect fit at shooting guard.

Arizona, Louisville, Washington, UCLA, North Carolina, Kentucky, Maryland, and Georgetown are all recruiting Trier. And of those, Arizona and Louisville are recruiting Trier the hardest. However, Trier has given no indication which way he is leaning.

Miller loved coaching Trier on the USA U18 team in June, and Trier started for Team USA. Miller couldn’t have asked for a better evaluation tool even though he doesn’t like to look at USA Basketball as a recruiting forum.

But here’s the bottom line.

Miller wants Trier and Miller usually gets what he wants in this era of Arizona Basketball recruiting.

Notes

– Louisville just received a commitment from Raymond Spalding that will likely take them out of the running for 2015 Stephen Zimmerman. So Arizona will likely secure an official visit from Zimmerman.

2015 Arizona commit Ray Smith had successful ACL surgery on Saturday.

2015 C Chance Comanche will officially visit September 13th.

Good to see Arizona lining up visits from elite recruits. The 2015 class looks like it is shaping up very nicely.

All time leading EYBL scorer??? Yes please!

Glad to see Arizona giving Trier the full court press at this point. He seems like a smart kid with huge upside on the court, perfect for our system and the team that will surround him.

On a side note, gotta give props to ACE and PGU on all the updates recently. Had no clue about Louisville and Zimmerman until reading this article.

I am glad that the staff has decided which one (recruit) they wanted instead of using that “first to commit” approach again like we did with York and Reinhardt.
I don’t think we could have went wrong with either one but I do think that Trier has that killer scoring instinct that we have yet to have since Miller has arrived at Arizona.
Someone that has a knack for putting the ball in the basket by any means necessary.

Bring the Zo Show to Zona! Trier is so marketable. Set records in the Nike League and can create his own legacy at Zona! Bear down Zo!
