In a clear homage to the Lute Olson led Wildcat basketball teams of the 90’s, Arizona has unveiled five new uniforms that will give the Cats a new but familiar look.

In the image above, you can see mockups of each of the designs (click it to enlarge). Both the jersey and shorts present obvious nods to Arizona’s classic look. Nike rebranded the Arizona uniform without the red and blue striping you saw on the shoulders and shorts of last year’s getup, instead going with solid paneling on the sides.

The Wildcats will sport two new white home jerseys, one with red trim and another with navy. You will notice that the white and red home jersey is very reminiscent of Arizona’s 90’s look, click here to compare.

The white and navy home jersey is an inversion of the 90’s navy away jersey, though the design comes off as fresh. Both pairs of shorts are sure to be favorites at the UofA Bookstore when the new designs hit stores.

Arizona will also have two away uniforms, a red jersey with navy trim as well as a navy jersey with red trim. These uniforms are more in line with the recent incarnations moreso than the older red away jerseys, but with a modified shorts design.

On the backs of the jerseys will be an expanded version of the subtle cactus design that used to just cover a small portion of the back. There are no mockups of the jersey backside yet.

Perhaps most interestingly, Arizona will don a new color in their typical white, cardinal, and navy palette. The fifth design is a gray uniform with red trim, similar to the white and red home uniform. However, this design will be used for both home and away games.

Great uniforms. Not too sure about the gray uniform, though.
