Arizona put on an impressive offensive display in a 90-56 demolition of the Oregon Ducks. The highest scoring team in the conference, Oregon was stifled by the Wildcats’ smothering defense.
Arizona shot a blistering 35 of 59 (59%) from the field, including 6 of 15 (40%) from beyond the three point line. Six different player scored in double figures, and the game was never close beyond the opening minutes.
Gabe York led the team with 16 points, despite only playing 22 minutes off the bench. He also hit 3 of 6 attempts from behind the three point line.
Freshman Stanley Johnson had another impressive performance with 12 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals.
Arizona had 44 points in the paint, and got a huge boost from 33 bench points. The Wildcats also forced 16 turnovers, resulting in 23 points.
Senior TJ McConnell hit 5 of 5 shots from the field for 10 points and 5 assists, including some terrific on ball defense throughout the game.
Dusan Ristic once again showed nice offensive touch, as the freshman hit 3 of 3 shots for 9 points and 5 rebounds in just 13 minutes. He also hit a three point shot again, and his confidence continues to grow.
