The Wildcats dominated in Colorado, rattling the Buffaloes in an 82-54 demolition. Arizona was the aggressor all night, playing stifling defense while suffocating Colorado on defense.
Arizona was 27 of 51 on field goal attempts, a scorching 52.9%. They were also hot from the three point line, hitting 5 of 10 from distance. But the Wildcats brought their best shooting to the free throw line, where they hit a stellar 23 of 25 attempts, or 92%.
Gabe York was incredible off the bench, converting 4 three pointers for 14 points to go along with 5 rebounds and 3 assists. York was an immediate spark off the bench, and if he can continue that level of play Arizona’s second unit will be formidable.
Junior Kaleb Tarczewski also had 14 points on 6 of 8 shooting. Tarczewski finished with authority in the paint, and his big night just happened to coincide with his birthday.
After scoring 4 points in the first half, freshman Stanley Johnson cashed in 11 second half points for a team high 15. He also had a tame high 2 steals in just 26 minutes.
The Wildcats forced 12 turnovers, which resulted in 15 points. Arizona also had 9 offensive rebounds which created 10 second chance points.
Arizona never trailed in the game, and held the lead for over 38 minutes in a dominant performance.
