Soon to be Xavier transfer Mark Lyons is said to be considering Arizona, Kansas and Kentucky. However, we don’t feel that either school is a viable threat to Arizona considering the long standing relationship Lyons has with the Arizona coaching staff from their time recruiting him at Xavier.
It was recently reported that Lyons would be making a few visits but we don’t think that’s likely to happen. It would be a surprise to us if Lyons visited UK or KU. We expect him to visit Arizona in the near future and make a decision shortly after that.
PointGuardU was at session #1 of the Nike EYBL last weekend in Minneapolis, Minnesota and we will be at session #2 this weekend in Hampton, Virginia. You can also expect Sean Miller to be in Hampton as well.
2013 Keith Frazier, Brian Bridgewater and 2014 Justise Winslow are getting what we call, “The Sean Miller Treatment.”
This is where Sean Miller sits front and center (or close) at every Houston Hoops game that he is allowed to attend in hopes that all three players take notice.
We asked all three players if they noticed Miller in the stands and it was clear they did.
This weekend will be no different as “The Sean Miller Treatment” arrives to Hampton, Virginia.
You can also expect the coaching staff to attend AAU events in Las Vegas and Little Rock, Arkansas this weekend.
Sean Miller watched 2013 phenom Marcus Lee a couple times in Minneapolis and will likely do so again this weekend. Lee was one player who coaches took notice of last weekend as he picked up offer from Duke and Florida. Arizona is doing very well in this recruitment and hoping to get Lee on campus.
Miller also watched 2014 point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright who plays on the same team as Marcus Lee. He is Arizona’s top priority for point guard in 2014 and Arizona is in excellent position in the recruitment.
Miller also watched the Oakland Soliders several times last weekend and you can expect the same in Hampton this weekend. 2013 wing Aaron Gordon is favoring Washington and 2013 guard Jabari Bird is rumored to be favoring California but Arizona will still continue to battle in these recruitments.
While Arizona has ground to make up in those recruitment’s it seems to be in the drivers seat for 2014 Shaqquan Aaron and 2014 Stanley Johnson.
