Gabe York and Allonzo Trier led Arizona to a high scoring 94-82 victory at Arizona State. The Wildcats were 30 of 54 (55.6%) from the field and had 15 assists to 8 turnovers.
York lit it up in the second half on his way to a game high 22 points. He hit 4 three pointers and also contributed 6 assists and 5 rebounds. York also converted from the free throw line, making 8 of 10 attempts.
Trier was also aggressive, scoring 20 points on 6 of 10 shooting. Like York, Trier did damage at the free throw line, hitting 7 of 8. He also grabbed 5 rebounds and helped Arizona manufacture points when the offense stalled.
Dusan Ristic continued his stellar play, showing off excellent footwork and a soft scoring touch around the rim. Ristic was unguardable, scoring 10 points on 5 of 6 shooting in just 20 minutes. Ristic’s deft post moves resulted in many easy jump hooks, and the sophomore is proving to be one of the Wildcats’ best scorers.
The game also marked the return of Kaleb Tarczewski, Arizona’s senior leader. Tarczewski scored 8 points with 5 rebounds in 15 minutes, and look healthy after missing several weeks with an ankle injury.
Kadeem Allen was a ferocious defender, recording 3 blocks and a steal while disrupting the ASU offense. Allen was also keyed in on offense, attacking the basket for 12 points on 5 of 9 shooting. The junior also had 3 assists with no turnovers.
Ryan Anderson was the fifth Arizona player in double figures scoring, chipping in 10 points and 10 rebounds. It was Anderson’s 7th double-double of the season, and his fourth in a row. He is now averaging 15.5 points and 10.3 rebounds per game on the season.
Arizona dominated in the paint, scoring 42 point near the basket. The Wildcats also turned 9 turnovers into 12 points.
Despite going down 7 points in the first half, Arizona battled back to take a 6 point advantage at halftime and held the lead for over 28 minutes.
