Stanley Johnson had 22 points in Arizona’s 68-54 win over Colorado on Thursday night. The short-handed Buffaloes were without major contributors in Josh Scott and Xavier Johnson, and ultimately they didn’t have enough in the tank to push the Wildcats in Tucson.
Kaleb Tarczewski had a great offensive game, scoring 14 points on 5 of 7 shooting from the field. He scored Arizona’s first 4 points of the game, and played solid defense throughout.
With junior Gabe York sidelined with an ankle injury, sophomore Elliott Pitts took full advantage. On top of playing good on ball defense, Pitts contributed 12 points and 4 three point makes. His long range shooting was crucial for Arizona’s offensive spacing, and his growing confidence could be a huge benefit to the Wildcats going forward.
Without Askia Booker, Colorado might have gotten crushed. Booker was zoned in for 30 points, including 6 three pointers.
Arizona held Colorado to 42% field goal shooting, and contained everyone besides Booker. Though they only shot 41% themselves, Arizona scored 16 points off 10 forced turnovers.
