Former Arizona State University football standout Mitchell Freedman was sentenced Friday by a judge in Phoenix to 80 years in prison for the sexual assaults of two women in 2003.
Mitchell Freedman, known as "Fright Night" for his crushing hits on the field, was accused of attacking the victims at gunpoint.
A jury in June convicted Freedman on 15 counts, including kidnapping, aggravated assault, sexual assault and sexual abuse.
He was sentenced to 16 years on each of the five counts of sexual assault, to run consecutively. The sentences on the remaining counts are to be served concurrently.
Freedman initially signed with ASU out of Maryvale High in 1993 but was academically ineligible. He re-signed in '94 and redshirted that season.
