Arizona senior Taryne Mowatt had never received an e-mail from USA Softball before.

That's because USA Softball had never invited the pitcher to try out for the national team.

"One day I was checking my e-mail, and the header said something about USA," said Mowatt, who had been waiting for possible notification. "And I was like, 'Oh, my gosh.' "

That was a few weeks ago, but it wasn't until Saturday that USA Softball released the names of 32 players who will participate in a tryout camp for the 2008 Olympics.

Mowatt, the star of the 2007 Women's College World Series and winner of two ESPY awards last month, was on the list, her first invitation to a U.S. softball camp.

She may not make it, but she certainly has her foot in the door for future possibilities. The USA is pretty stacked with pitchers like Fernandez, Finch, Osterman, Abbott and so on. Hopefully one day she'll be able to shine on the international stage.

Good luck to Taryne! Hope she does well enough to receive a future invite if she does not make it this time around!
