Arizona played without its closer for the second weekend in a row.
It played with three freshmen and three sophomores in the lineup.
It played with a sophomore starting pitcher on Thursday, a senior walk-on starter on Friday and a starter Saturday who suffered a broken elbow and three broken vertebrae in a motorcycle crash three months ago.
Despite all those apparent odds stacked against them, the 18th-ranked Wildcats extended their winning streak to 14 with a 5-3 victory over California on Saturday afternoon at Kindall/Sancet Stadium. Arizona (28-6) is 6-0 in Pac-10 play for the first time in program history.
