One of the more exciting prospects in the class of 2019 is wing Cassius Stanley. Already having the skill to play at the highest level of AAU competition, Stanley definitely holds his own going up against the older players.
The Los Angeles product, known for his big in game dunks, is making a name for putting together highlight after highlight. “I think I’m coming along well. I really like to drive and facilitate, that’s definitely a strong point in my game for now. I’m working on my consistency in my jump shot and perimeter shot and that will spread the court out more for myself and my teammates.”
Every time the 6’5 190 pound wing steps out on the court, he looks the part. Physically strong enough and now experienced, his game has really grown as he’s added more dimensions than just flashy dunks.
“I just really want to be a lock down defender so that’s something that I want to keep working on. I’ll be in the gym working on my lateral quickness so it’ll all come together and this upcoming year I want to stop whoever coach tells me to guard. That’s something that I’ll be looking forward to.”
“This year I’m excited for the season as defenses last year schemed against me so just being more aware and having a better understanding of how to attack the defense are the things that I’m excited about.”
With so much time left in the recruitment of the sophomore to be, Arizona is making sure Stanley is aware that they are paying attention to what he can potentially become.
“Arizona is Arizona. My dad was really close with coach Stoudamire and I know he’s moved on to Pacific but coaches still send me letters and it’s a great school. They pull a lot of guys out of California so I’m very familiar with what they have going on there.”
