2017 Markus Howard, a 5’11 point guard, will enter his junior season playing at the heralded Findlay Prep in Henderson, NV. PGU caught up with Howard to talk about his play recently and the presence the Arizona staff has in his recruitment.
Howard has played in front of a lot of big name coaches, but he remains focused on the court.
“I try not to worry about it too much but you can’t avoid it either, so when I see them in the gym I give them the strong points of my game and it helps me stay on edge and I always want to play my game and play my best,” he told PGU.
There’s an added level of pressure when the nation’s best programs are in attendance, but it’s not something that affects Howard.
“I’m used to it at this point and no matter who is watching you have to play and the results will be what they are,” he said.
Howard has noticed the Arizona coaching staff at his games as well.
“It’s always nice to see them there for me, for sure, and I always see an assistant and it’s nice to know that they’re watching me,” he told PGU.
So far Howard has developed a relationship with the staff, and has appreciated the attention he’s seen from Arizona.
“They’ve been in contact and I’ve heard from them before and after games and them coming to the games has been a pretty good feeling. They just tell me to keep playing the way I am and they really like the way I play,” Howard said.
