One of the standouts from the list of 5 star prospects that Arizona Basketball recently hosted was 2017 top ten player Jarred Vanderbilt. The 6’8 power forward is coming off a tremendous summer where he represented team USA along with 2017 elite guard prospect and Arizona recruit Markus Howard.
“I really had a good time there. I mean, the fans were loud and the whole presentation was cool when the players came out,” he said.
But that’s just one of the things he mentioned while on his visit.
“The campus itself was really nice, we spent most of our time taking in McKale Center and how new everything was but from what I saw besides that it was nice,” Vanderbilt told PGU.
He also mentioned that “the locker room was really impressive. It looks like an NBA locker room and the arena was so nice you could just tell they put a lot into and the players like it a lot.”
While on the trip he and the other recruits took in the interaction that head coach Sean Miller had with the team and all had great comments about it. The 5-star power forward was no different.
“You can just tell the team is close. I liked the things he told the team pregame and I’m starting to build on that relationship too.”
The standout qualities of Vanderbilt’s game is what is turning heads, as well as his tenacity both defensively and offensively.
“I just want to play hard all of the time so that’s why I try to do. Coaches tell me that they like my energy but I’m just trying to get better everyday,” he added.
“The staff talked a lot about defense and they’ve told me as well and I want to develop my game to guard all positions to be ready for anything, so I can always get better,” he said.
