2017 6’6 215 pound four star forward Galen Alexander is a Louisiana native that holds an offer from Arizona. PGU caught up with Alexander to discuss where he stands.
“My main thing is just to play hard. I have been critiqued in the past for not playing hard so I just want to show that I’m not the same player that I used to be, so I want to come out as hard as I can to prove people wrong every time I get the opportunity. On the next level you have to play hard every single practice and game so that’s what I’m trying to do now.”
When asked about the strengths of his game, Alexander told PGU, “Just shooting the three and attacking. I have a nice one-on-one isolation game so I try to use those things to my advantage and wanted to work even more.”
“After summer ended I put a lot of focus on my jumper my junior year just getting shots up everyday and its now starting to pay off and it’s a lot better as I think it’s a big part of my offensive game.”
After spending the week at NBPA Top 100 Camp at the University of Virginia Alexander walked away feeling good about where he stands on the defensive side of the ball, for now.
“I feel comfortable guarding any position I have to right now. I’m a really good on ball defender and overall I think I’m a good defender. I‘m able to use my length to my advantage. I’m really strong and agile for my size so I definitely benefit on that side of the ball.”
And when Arizona is recruiting a player that is one thing the coaching staff stresses and he is very familiar with the Arizona coaches up to this point. “Lately I’ve been talking a lot to coach Pasternack. He calls me once or twice a week every week to check in on me and I talk to coach Sean Miller a lot as well. Coach Pasternack guides me and has been helping me through the process especially just in helping me become a better player with the things that I need to work on.”
“With all the wings they’ve been producing in Aaron Gordon, Stanley Johnson, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, etc. that’s big for me because if you can put high level wings in the next level and the location too you know. Arizona is a beautiful place and it’s a beautiful place to play.”
