With the recent emergence of 2016 Andrew Jones, Sean Miller has been closely watching the 6’4 combo guard.

PGU caught up with Jones to talk about his highlights during the contest and his feelings as his recruitment is really starting to take off.

“On the defensive end I have to start a spark for my team. They feed off my energy. If I come out playing hard and aggressive it trickles down to my teammates and helps us play better,” he told PGU.

IMG_2019At one point during the second half Jones saw a crease in the defense and drove hard to the basket and finished with authority with a two handed dunk that was sure to grab the coaches attention as the crowd felt the force of the play. “It was a statement maker,” he told PGU. “I had it and the defender was talking some noise to me on the sideline and I wanted to shut him up.”

“I feel that I can get buckets whenever I want,” he added. “With my team I just try to be unselfish and get them their shots. Scoring doesn’t always have to be about me.”

With increasing attention from the nation’s top programs, the combo guard touched on his feelings towards the attention he has been receiving, “I try not to pay attention to it when I’m in the game but afterwards, yes, I definitely notice it and its unbelievable. I love it.”

With more schools coming into the picture each day Jones tells PGU that there are some schools that have been in contact with him than most.

“None are sticking out as far as favorites but I’ve been hearing from a lot of schools lately. Arizona, Texas, A&M, Virginia, Oklahoma and more,” he said.

When asked more about Arizona the 2016 rising star tells PGU, “It’s been the same. They told me that it’s their number one priority in their recruitment for 2016 class and for me to have the opportunity to take that one spot that they’re looking for at my guard position, it’s a blessing.”
