2015 Arizona commit Justin Simon will be heading to Brewster Academy in New Hampshire this Friday. He joins fellow 2015 Arizona commit Allonzo Trier as the latest Wildcat to attend a prep school in his senior season.
The 6-foot-4 Simon is part of a three man recruiting class at Arizona that also includes wing Ray Smith.
“My family and I thought it was a great idea to get away for my senior year to become more prepared for Arizona and be challenged as a basketball player,” Simon told PGU. His roommate at Brewster will be Louisville commit Donovan Mitchell.
Simon won’t be back on the west coast until the Red/Blue game so he’s making the most of his time by spending it with family, friends and working out.
“I’m really excited for the Red/Blue game. It should be a good recruiting weekend and a lot of fun. Ray and I always talk about it and Allonzo is also coming. Rabb told me he was trying to come down and we should have a couple more recruits. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
Sean Miller spoke with Simon last week about Brewster and Arizona assistant Damon Stoudamire reached out to Simon earlier today.
“Damon and I talk a lot and he feels Brewster is a good spot for me. Coach Miller said the same thing and then we talked about getting some bigs for the 2015 class.”
Simon has been working on his shot, conditioning and getting to the basket this summer and thinks he’s made some progress in all those areas.
“I’m more confident in my shot and working on my overall game. Conditioning and getting ready for the NBA type minutes they play at Arizona is something I’m also working on. They don’t want me huffing and puffing during practice.”
Simon will spend this week getting ready for Brewster and is ready for the next chapter in his basketball career.
“I can’t wait. I’m getting stuff for my dorm ready. My parents are excited but they are going to miss me. So that stuffs starting to show now. But I feel it’s all fun and part of becoming a man. I appreciate all the support from my family, friends and fans. I’ll see all the Arizona fans for the Red/Blue game and until then, Bear Down!”
