Arizona added another player to their 2014 class today. Dušan Ristić, a 7 foot 240 pound center from Serbia, committed to the Wildcats after visiting Tucson this weekend.
Ristić is a low post presence with a good all around skill set. He left Serbia to join Sunrise Christian Academy (KS) this season.
Arizona had been recruiting Ristić before his move and encouraged him to play basketball in the US. One of the reasons was to avoid getting signed to a long term deal back home.
Ristić recently visited the Arizona campus, which he enjoyed enough to make his commitment official.
Ristić won the 2014 Serbian National Cup with Crvena Zvezda Belgrade and has been a member of the Serbian U-16 and U-18 National Team. He also won the bronze medal at the 2012 European U-18 Championship.
Ristić is praised for his size and his understanding of the game, as well as his touch around the hoop. The major areas he needs to improve are athleticism and playing through contact.
Ristić joins point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright, combo guard Kadeem Allen, forward Craig Victor, and McDonald’s All-American wing Stanley Johnson in Arizona’s 2014 recruiting class.
